Psalm 113
1 Praise the Lord!
Yes, give praise, O servants of the Lord.
Praise the name of the Lord!
2 Blessed be the name of the Lord
now and forever.
3 Everywhere—from east to west—
praise the name of the Lord.
4 For the Lord is high above the nations;
his glory is higher than the heavens.
Praise the name of the Lord!
2 Blessed be the name of the Lord
now and forever.
3 Everywhere—from east to west—
praise the name of the Lord.
4 For the Lord is high above the nations;
his glory is higher than the heavens.
5 Who can be compared with the Lord our God,
who is enthroned on high?
6 He stoops to look down
on heaven and on earth.
7 He lifts the poor from the dust
and the needy from the garbage dump.
8 He sets them among princes,
even the princes of his own people!
9 He gives the childless woman a family,
making her a happy mother.
who is enthroned on high?
6 He stoops to look down
on heaven and on earth.
7 He lifts the poor from the dust
and the needy from the garbage dump.
8 He sets them among princes,
even the princes of his own people!
9 He gives the childless woman a family,
making her a happy mother.
Praise the Lord!
I spent many Mother's Days waiting to be a mommy...nine years in all. We started Marisa's adoption in the fall of 2005. So, four of those nine years we were somewhere in the process of adoption for one or both of our children, but neither of them were home yet. Honestly, they were painful years as we waited indefinitely for our children to come home. Finally, just after Mother's Day in 2009, God blessed us with our son, Kieran! Those nine long years of waiting to be a mother diminished into memories as I held him for the first time. Then around Christmas of 2010, He graciously blessed us again...this time with our daughter, Marisa! What bliss to finally meet her and feel the weight of her in my arms! On this Mother's Day I have a lot to be grateful for. My empty arms are now full!! Thank you, God, for blessing me with these children, and thank you for giving me the grace and patience to walk through those difficult years of waiting for them to come home to Mike & me. Because of those past bitter years, these three years of being a mother are all the more sweet.
