Life is beautiful

Kieran's cousin, Haley Joy, was born on Wednesday.  She's a beauty! Here's the stats: 8 lbs 6 oz. and 19 1/2 inches long.  We went to meet her today.

Kieran was so excited to meet his new cousin, Haley.  Pictured above: Haley with her mommy & daddy, Kieran, and Grandma.  Haley was a trooper and didn't mind all the flashing cameras one bit.

Kieran got Haley a book.  He even "read" part of it to her.  She opened her eyes for us briefly.  I'm one proud auntie!!

Another proud auntie.  Haley has plenty of adoring fans, and willing babysitters.

Grandpa & Grandma with their two grand babies.  They are amazing grandparents!

Happy Father's Day

Kieran helped me shop for Mike's Father's Day gift.  So, he was eager to tell Daddy what he was getting.  Mike acted surprised when he got his sandals, even though Kieran had already told him about them, twice.

We also got Mike a book for Father's Day.  Kieran didn't know about the book, so that secret was safe.  Our celebration also included a delicious dinner:  barbecued steak, oven fries, and apple pie with ice cream.    But the best gift of all is having a son.  Kieran has brought so much joy into our lives.

We've been busy, busy!

Time to catch you all up to date on our busy June schedule.  First, we visited our dear friends (James, Mandy & Henry) and celebrated Henry's second birthday.  Our other dear friends (Corey, Kelly and their three boys) were there to celebrate too.  So, it was a big old Rwanda reunion.

Kieran loved having so many buddies to play with.  Below: Kieran with Brody & Chase.

After a fun reunion with our travel buddies, we took a drive down to visit our families.  We stayed with Gramma & Granpa.  Kieran had a blast at their house.  They took him to the park, and he got to ride in Granpa's cool car!

Next, we went to a graduation and a party for our niece.  Above, Kieran with his cousin, Vanessa.  We got to spend time with many of our friends and relatives at the party.  It was great to catch up with everybody!
Kieran's cousin Bekah, in the purple tank, graduated from high school.  I was so proud of her and nine of her classmates who were all former students of mine.  Four of the teens pictured above were once in my third grade classes!  They grow up so fast.  What an awesome bunch!

More fun at the grandparents' house.  Here, Daddy reads to Kieran while Granpa listens in.  Snuggle Puppy is a classic!  If you don't own the book, you gotta get it.

After all the excitement, visiting, and delicious food, it was time to head back home.  But the reunions continued as we went to visit some more relatives.

We spent some time with my sister Katie.  She is expecting a baby anytime now.  We are very eager to meet Miss Haley!

Then we had a picnic with Auntie Kendra.  In spite of the wind and sudden chilliness-it was supposed to be a sunny day- we played on the toys and acted like it was not cold.  Kieran had a grand time running around in all the wide open space.  Kendra and I had a great workout keeping up with him.

We even got to meet a whale and climb up on its back!

Now we're back to a normal, quiet pace for a while.  Kieran's having fun rediscovering toys he'd forgotten about while we were away.  Meanwhile, I'm catching up on loads of laundry.
